Meet Devant, an accomplished professional with a diverse background in executive management spanning over 20 years in the Caribbean. Devant holds a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Innovation from Anglia Ruskin University (UK) and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Trinidad and Tobago. He is also an alumnus of Mount Royal College and the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada.
Currently, Devant serves as a key member of the management team at Eco Canada in Calgary, Alberta, where he holds the role of Senior Manager of Professional Services – Strategic Projects and ESG. Eco Canada is a leading organization championing the environmental workforce in Canada, supporting job creation, wage funding, training, and labour market research for environmental professionals across all industries.
Devant's career journey includes notable roles such as Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Deputy Director, and CEO of a media house in Trinidad and Tobago. He also served as Chairman of the state bus company, where he spearheaded the transition of the fleet from diesel to CNG fuel. His political career saw him appointed as Minister of Transport and later Minister of Food Production in the Trinidad and Tobago government, where he implemented significant conservation and greening initiatives in agriculture, including international engagements at the UN and FAO.
Following his tenure in government, Devant re-entered the private sector as a management consultant in project management within the construction sector. He is a prolific author, columnist, and presenter, having contributed papers on cultural and political topics, and served in executive capacities in various faith-based and community organizations.
