Meet second Lieutenant Jerome L. Downey, and a Board Member of Alive House. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 2018 as an infantry officer with the Princess Louise Fusiliers. He transferred to the Public Affairs Branch in 2023. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Mount Allison University and a Journeyman Steamfitter-Pipefitter completing technical training at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and Nova Scotia Community College IT Campus. He was previously an officer in the financial services sector for HSBC Finance and Scotia Bank. As an entrepreneur in 2012 he started DMF Energy Inc., a general building and management consultancy firm. He’s recently served on Operation LASER and Operation VECTOR in 2021. Second Lieutenant Downey lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, coaching, and volunteering on the board of directors with a few local community non-profits focused on education, health, and social justice.
